As teams continue to release their kits for the 20/21 season, PSG are among those with really sheek and well crafted kits! Taking a closer look at those kits probably some of you noticed the Jumpman logo associated with Michael Jordan one of the most iconic individuals in basketball and the sports world. So lets go back to the beginning..

In Sept 13th 2018, Ligue 1 Champions Paris Saint-Germain became the first football club to have signed an agreement with the iconic Jordan Brand. They partnered up with Nike-owned Jordan brand for three years until 2021. The deal included footwear such as the Jordan 1 and Jordan 5 with the PSG logo on the shoes. Other fashionable, off-pitch PSG apparel were also introduced for fans to purchase.

Paris Saint-Germain debuted the Jordan sponsored kits on September 18, 2018, against Liverpool FC on matchday one of the UEFA Champions League group stage. The deal was for PSG to wear the Jordan sponsored home and away kits exclusively during European competition.

While Nike remains Paris Saint-Germain’s long-term kit manufacturers, the innovative deal with Jordan Brand main goal was to strengthen the club’s reputation as an icon of sport and style and in turn proving as trend-setters in world football. The partnership was also to introduce the two brand into new markets and new audiences.

Michael Jordan himself stated, “Jordan Brand and Paris Saint-Germain share a distinct position in sports and styles, so to partner with the club is a natural fit.” This partnership is reported to generate over €200 million in annual revenues for Nike (per AFP).

According to reports, earlier this year the deal was extended for another year till 2022!
