So you’ve probably already heard about him and currently almost all the big boys in Europe wants a piece of the 20 year old. Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid have all shown a liking to him but why is he in high demand?
With a price tag of around 100M Euros, Havertz has become a sensation not only because of his leadership qualities but the amount of talent he possesses. Described as an an ambidextrous midfielder – equally comfortable on his left and right foot and is a technically-gifted and intelligent. He is also impeccably versatile where he is able to play deep, centrally or advanced in the midfield; a six, an eight or a ten which means he can fit in any ‘big club’ comfortably.
He has scored 11 goals in the league so far this season, having bagged 17 last season. On top of that, after becoming Leverkusen’s youngest ever player to appear in the Bundesliga followed by being the youngest in the Bundesliga to reach 50 appearances, Havertz made another piece of history last season when he became the first teenager in German top flight to reach 17 goals in a single campaign!
When the Bundesliga returned a few weeks ago, he again raised to the occasion scoring twice as Bayer Leverkusen ended the first round of Bundesliga matches in over two months with a 4-1 win at Werder Bremen which moved them within a point of the top four.
He has already accumulated over a century of Bundesliga appearances and no player has scored more than his 34 goals and counting in the division before turning 21. Despite the young age, there is a maturity about Havertz on the football pitch. His distribution of the ball is exceptional be it long passes or short, his ability to carry the ball and scan for better options is to say the least amazing!
And despite all that talent he is described as a very down to earth individual who loves his family and wants to improve as a footballer.
So whats there not love about him? With Chelsea in recent times entering the arena for him, it’s going to be interesting to see where he ends up, and well when the coronavirus pandemic threw the world in to chaos, there were noises that Havertz might stay in the Bundesliga a little longer. There will certainly be plenty of Leverkusen fans who would love to see him stay at the club a bit longer but then again you get the feeling that he is indeed destined for greater things and maybe just maybe one of the Europe’s elite!
Well if you haven’t watched him yet, do so then you will understand what the hype is about and why he is the most wanted player in Europe at the moment!
